I have heard and experienced a long lull in work over the last almost a year. I have been lucky to have regular work on Home and Away to keep the business going which I am very thankful for but talking to a few soundies and boomies recently it reminds me how chaotic and unstable this industry can be.
We need to be flexible, we need to be resilient and not draw on a pessimistic perspective that we have spent our career honing.
This post is for those freelancers out there who stay positive out there, who have other soundies backs, who work side hustles to get by, who having families the rely on them and of course those that despite the times keep a friendly and collaborative temperament.
I recently started getting some regular location recording work and it feels great to get back on the tools. I am excited to work on different sets and grow in my field.
I hope that everyone is coming out of this lull and for people that are not I hope you are all doing ok.
Thank you for all the people that have kept connected, shared their stories and have thrown work my way. I feel really lucky to be a part of the community that I have grown with.
Cheers to you all
